Williams promotes book in the Midwest
CHICAGO — Two Chicago television stations interviewed Jack Williams on July 28 about The AMS Weather Book.
First, Tom Skilling interviewed Jack on his WGN TV Midday News weather show. In his promo for the interview, Skilling said: “A terrific new book on the weather and climate has hit the nation’s book stands and we plan to talk about it with its author and former editor of the USA Today’s weather page Jack Williams …. The book has received rave reviews from meteorologists …. but it is written for anyone with an interest in weather and climate.
The interview is available on the Web.
That evening, Phil Ponce interviewed Jack on “Chicago Tonight,” on WTTW-TV, one of the nation’s oldest and largest public television stations.
In his interview Ponce asked Williams why he included a profile of Skilling in his new book. Williams said that Skilling represents the the best of the local television meteorologists who are major source of science news for a large part of the public. While WGN TV is a local station, it is on cable networks not only in the United States but in other parts of the world. Williams commented that he has seen Skilling on cable television in Aruba.
The WTTW interview is also available on the Web.
From Chicago, Williams drove to Wisconsin where he signed copies of his books, which were sold at the Experiential Aircraft Association’s annual AirVenture in Oshkosh — “The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration.” It’s a gathering of those who love aviation in all of its forms.
In addition to signing copies of The AMS Weather Book, Williams gave informal talks on July 30 and August 1 on “12 things pilots need to know about weather.”
